Whether the business keeps you on the road most days or just a few days a year, it’s hard to eat right while you travel. What can you do to maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes good nutrition while working out of a hotel room? . 


Start With Some Tough Love

It’s likely you will have to force yourself to be more disciplined on the road with it comes to both diet and fitness. Sit down and write out some rules:

  • No food or alcohol after 5:00 p.m. - That will keep you away from the vending machines and the mini bar. 
  • Eat in restaurants only for business purposes. Try to book hotel rooms that have a small kitchen or a microwave.  
  • If you drink alcohol do it for work. In other words, if you have dinner with a client or go to a cocktail party associated with work, go ahead and have one to hold --  otherwise, sustain. 

Be Prepared 

Go ahead and pack your own healthy snacks. This solves a lot of problems because most business trips involve late nights alone in a room bored watching TV. If you have snacks with you, then you can avoid the less than healthy temptations.

Take a Pass on the Airline Food

Really, because it is hardly worth the calories, salt and fat. If you can’t wait until you land to eat, bring small snacks to get you through like nuts or trail mix. 

Make sure you drink plenty of fluids while in transit, too. That will help to control your appetite. 

Manage Your Food Intake

You may want to try a certain restaurant while on the road and there is nothing wrong with that as a treat. If you know that a big meal is coming, though, eat light or not at all during the rest of the day. 

Follow that same pattern if you must attend a business lunch or dinner. Plan ahead, so you can enjoy yourself. 

You are what you eat. That is probably truer on the road more than anywhere else, so make the effort to keep your nutrition right where it should be as you travel for business.

This is a great gym with more than everything one needs in a gym! The equipment is good and the cardio area is bright and energetic. There is ample room for free weights and stretching.
