Great results take great discipline and for extreme climber Elyse the difference between discipline and excuse making can mean life or death when she's scaling some of the world's tallest mountains.


Coming from a competitive family Elyse started climbing as a young teen after watching her mother scale Kilimanjaro at 50 years old! Throughout her time as a climber she has learned that the factor for her performance on the mountains is the discipline she puts into her workout regime. 


"When climbing there is no room for error so everything on the ground has to be taken into account. Because of this I take extreme measures towards developing my discipline with my workouts and eating regimen."


What exactly do her workouts look like?

"Ironically, lot of olympic weightlifting and power lifting. It's counter intuitive for a climber because you need to remain lean enough to carry yourself and your gear up the mountain, but I realized that the stronger I became the better I performed."


We can only imagine how scary climbing a mountain like Everest must be so we asked Elyse for advice on how our members can overcome their own reservations about fitness and she had some powerful things to say.


"We can't deny fear, it's there and it's not going to go anywhere. In fact, it's not our job to ignore it, but it is our responsibility to overcome it. What ever you may fear, just know that the better part of your life is on the other side of that fear."

This is a great gym with more than everything one needs in a gym! The equipment is good and the cardio area is bright and energetic. There is ample room for free weights and stretching.
