DRAFTING:
Selecting your players
TRADES:
Success and survival
DRAFTING:
Selecting your players
-
Get good Running Backs! The Running Back position is by
far the most shallow in football and can be the most productive.
Take a running back with your first two picks, you'll
still
get solid starters for your other positions in the later rounds.
- Form
your own opinions. Use online draft boards as a guide, but
create your own, too! You'll make better selections late in the
draft. Most folks don't take the time to make their own board
and often make errant choices that cost them points throughout
the season.
- Notice
bye week availability. Bye weeks are weeks a team isn't playing.
Try to avoid selecting key players -- especially within a single
position like Running Back -- who are not playing on the same
week.
-
Don't reach for sleepers. These players are called sleepers
because their performance is unpredictable. Choose them in the
late rounds. Draft consistent players in the early to middle rounds.
The best place to grab a sleeper is right after you've filled
your starting slots (kickers and defense not included).
- Don't
follow the crowd. Many times in live drafts, there's a run
on certain positions. Everybody will pick Running Backs. Then,
everyone picks Quarterbacks. Don't get caught up in a run. Remember,
Quarterbacks and Wide Receivers are deep positions, You can find
starters in the middle rounds. Always take the top available
player on your board.
-
Draft kickers and defense last. Unless you're looking at
the Ravens or Patriots, defenses will be available at the end
of your draft.
